Resize Stage and Move PageFlip Tutorial

If you changed the page size of the PageFlip, you probably need to increase or decrease the size of the stage and re-center or reposition the book. Follow this brief tutorial explaining how to do just that.

You can watch a video walk-through illustrating every detail of this “Resize Stage and Move PageFlip” tutorial.

Resizing the stage:

  1. Open the PageFlip FLA file.
  2. Using the text menu at the top of the screen, navigate to:
    1. Menu».
    2. Modify»
    3. Document
  3. Set the “Width” and “Height” to your desired dimensions.
  4. Press the “OK” button.

Modifying the Background:

  1. Within the Timeline panel:
    1. Find the “Background” layer.
    2. Click the red X next to the name of the Background layer to make that layer visible if it’s currently invisible.
    3. Select any non-empty (gray) frame within the Background layer.
  2. The highlighted area on the stage is the Background shape.
  3. Use the Free Transform Tool to select the shape on the stage.
  4. With the Background shape selected, do either of the following:
    • Use the Free transform Tool to resize and reposition the background until it is as big or bigger than the stage.
    • Use the Properties panel to set the background to the same dimensions as the stage.
  5. Now is a good time to change the color of the background if so inclined.
  6. Reset the Background layer’s visibility and lock it when finished.

Moving the Pages clip:

  1. Within the Timeline panel:
    1. Find the “Pages” layer.
    2. Select any non-empty (gray) frame within the Pages layer.
  2. The small highlighted cross near the center of the stage is the Pages clip and it marks the center of your book when opened.
  3. Use the Selection Tool to click on the Pages clip.
  4. Do either of the following:
    • Use the Properties panel to set new X and Y properties.
    • Use the Align panel to center the Pages clip on the stage.
    • Click and drag the Pages clip to wherever you like.
  5. It’s best to keep the book positioned on whole pixel values.
  6. Test your file and make sure everything works as expected.

If you want to get fancy and rotate or scale the Pages clip you should read the PageFlip Transformation Tutorial.

I was trying to increase the size of content in Print 1, Print 2…. I resized the movie doc, and resized the pages, but although I have resized “var pageWi = 300; and var pageHi = 450;”, they content still shows up as 200×300.
Where in the .as the size of content is being set?
    Thanks, Szuete

I bought your file a month back. Its really a great piece of work for such a low price.
I’m not that flash savvy so while tweaking this file, wondering can I position the first page at center of the stage opposed to right side and when you turn it over, two page layout will come up. Same goes for back page, when you flip over to back page it should self align in center of the stage instead of position on left side. Could you please throw some light?
