Adobe AIR Installed?

I know the Adobe's SWF Player is installed on 99.9% of computers, but what about Adobe Air?

CPAUG July 30th Meeting

I must preface this post by stating, "I suck at remembering names."

So having said that...

To the guy to my left who uses Photoshop to do HTML layouts but doesn't have a laptop:
1. I don't know if you use FireFox and FireBug plugins but you might be interested in the PixelPerfect plugin.
2. People mentioned FireWorks so I thought I'd throw in a link to an Adobe article discussing Photoshop and FireWorks integration.
3. And when talking about FireWorks I always like to mention Senocular's work.
To the guy to my right with the Treo:
1. I'm looking for some mobile techno devices and checking out everything I can.
2. Thanks for tolerating my questions/grilling.
To the guy who wants to sell PDFs as e-Books:
1. Adobe just happens to have a PDF called "How to Create Adobe PDF eBooks".
2. You could skip the PDF entirely and just convert Quark to eBook.
3. If you want to go the EXE route, you can have Quark export to HTML and try some eBook Compiler software like Activ E-Book Compiler

Abloatbe? Bloatdobe? Adobloatme?

Sometimes I wonder where Adobe plans to lead the ubiquitous SWF file and its associated software. Hopefully it will never be as "BLOATED" as Adobe's PDF Viewer.

Adobe Reader's large file size seems a bit excessive when you consider the fact that most PDFs can be "printed" to SWF files which in turn can be viewed with the comparatively minuscule SWF player.

Flex Builder 3 First Impression

If you read my previous article Flex 3 Released you'd know that I was lucky enough to win a free copy of Flex Builder 3 at the February CPAUG meeting. I'm not sure why, but Adobe chose to send a boxed version of Flex Builder to all of the winners rather than e-mailing them a key-code for a downloaded copy. Oh well, that's okay by me, I'm not really in a rush to try Flex and I wouldn't mind having an installation disc around 'just in case' I ever need it.

After a couple weeks, my prize from Adobe finally arrived via Fed-Ex. I promptly stripped it from it's bubble-wrapped confines and marveled at its splendor. Safely nestled within the Fed-Ex package was a shiny white box which contained another more cleverly shaped box which held yet another plastic box. Ooooo (pronounced the way you'd say it if you were watching a fireworks display) this was SO worth the wait!...
