Change PageFlip Background Color

Changing the background color of the PageFlip is easy but it's not very intuitive. Here's a quick tutorial explaining how to do it:

  1. Download the PageFlip file if you haven't already.
  2. Open the PageFLip file.
  3. Make sure the TimeLine is visible (Menu»Window»TimeLine).
  4. Find the "Background" layer in the TimeLine
  5. Click the "X" to the right of the Background layer to make it visible.
  6. Click the "lock" to the right of the Background layer to unlock it.
  7. Click the first non-empty frame in the Background layer to select it.
  8. Click the Fill Color swatch in the ToolBar to choose a new color

That should be it. Happy page-flipping.

@Mac, I’m thinking of writing a tutorial to explain why the file is set up the way that it is. Check back in a little while.

@Yellow, here’s a tutorial just for you… How to Change Page Color.

Hey Pixel, that worked great. I’m super confused as to why those pages have to be on the main timeline to begin with? Why are they there and was it on purpose that you put a background layer there to cover them up?

When I deleted them, and their layer, nothing bad happened and the pageflip continued to work fine.

I’ve been playing around alot with it, and its an amazing thing you’ve done here, thanks very much for all the tips in the code to help me out. One thing I have a burning desire to fix is the preloader.

I’ve tried your preloader, that comes with PageFlip and it works. But when I try to reproduce the preloader with my own (and many others, followed from various tutorials) it creates several problems. Firstly, the preloader only pops up at 70%. Secondly, a little green time line looking thing pops up in the top left corner.

    Anyways, thanks for the code!

@Marc, try moving the content pages off the viewable portion of the stage, (i.e. move all pages 600 pixels to the left).

Is there a way to make the backgorund transperant, so that when I publish it into an HTML file it will not show this box?

Alison, it sounds like you need to resize (enlarge) the rectangle shape on the Background layer.

Can anyone help? When I test the movie, I am getting a grey area behind the booklet in upper left corner of the background. Any thoughts on how to get rid of this?

Pixelwit, THANK YOU for this code.
